Kardashians are Taking Over!

It's the reality TV trifecta: Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian are putting their stamp on this world, and they're doing it in a surprisingly entertaining way. I'll admit, when I first heard that they were getting their own reality show, I rolled my eyes. Great, another rich and beautiful family with their own TV show. . .how original. But after watching the first season, I was hooked. These people are very charming and now with Khloe marrying Lamar Odem after knowing him for 5 minutes, Kourtney having a baby with that loser Scott Disick, Keeping Up With the Kardashians is better than ever.

Here's a recent photo of 2 out of 3 Kardashians, with Kim donning a white leather Balenciaga bag & Kourtney with a Fendi handbag which goes perfectly with her baby bump. I must say these two have perfected the art of casual-chic.

Karl Lagerfeld is a Man Who Wears Many Many Hats.

Karl Lagerfeld is considered to be one of the leading forces in fashion design. He was born in Hamburg, Germany, but relocated to Paris at age 22 in order to pursue fashion design. He began as an apprentice for Pierre Balmain, and one of his contemporaries was one of my other fashion icons, Yves Saint Laurent. After spending three years at Balmain, Lagerfeld began working for Jean Patou, where he began designing haute couture pieces.

In 1964, he began freelance designing for Chloe in Paris, and then Curiel in Rome. It wasn't until 1972 when he started working with Fendi, designing clothing and accessories. He was also appointed Artistic Director/designer for the House of Chanel. As a result of his impressive fashion pedigree, Lagerfeld remains a prominent figure in today's fashion. His runway shows during Fashion Week attract so many celebrities, I couldn't name them all. In addition, Lagerfeld receives lots of celebrity support when it comes to the ad campaigns of his many brands.

Here is Lindsay Lohan with Karl Lagerfeld at a Chanel fashion show, and Nicole Kidman as the covergirl for Chanel No.5 perfume.

Here is Nicole Richie carrying a Chloe Heloise shoulder bag on one hand, and Joel Madden on the other one on the way to her court date.

$700.00

...And here she is again along with Hilary and Haylie Duff sporting the Fendi Spy Bag.

$2,250.00

Although Lagerfeld is famous for designing for three big labels (Chanel, Chloe, and Fendi), he does a very good job in maintaining the uniqueness of each of the three. I've noticed that Chloe caters to a somewhat younger fashionista (with deep pockets), Chanel is for the very elegant and sophisticated, while Fendi is aimed at the über trendy.

Maria Sharapova Should Be Idolized On and Off the Court

Maria Sharapova is a 21 year old tennis phenom who has taken the world by storm. I may be slightly biased because I'm absolutely obsessed with tennis and Sharapova is my favorite womens player, but I truly think Maria is in a league of her own. She was born in Siberia, Russia, and she and her father Yuri came to the United States when she was only seven years old so she could attend the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Brandenton, Florida. She went on to win Wimbledon at age 17, then the 2004 US Open, and the 2008 Australian Open.

Along with her many accolades for her stellar tennis game, Maria Sharapova has frequently been voted Best Dressed among the WTA Women's Tour. I second that. I've already mentioned how much of a tennis nerd I am, so it goes without saying that I've watched TONS of tennis...and Sharapova is yet to disappoint in the fashion department. To be fair, I should mention that she naturally wears the outfits well because of her modelesque figure (she's like 6' 3" and very slim). For example, the dresses she wore to the 2006 and 2007 US Open nighttime final matches. She literally looks like a supermodel who just happens to play tennis.

Even when she's decked out in her glam tennis gear, Maria still has style. Here she is at the 2007 year-end tournament players' party in a metallic orange tunic by Thakoon, black pantyhose, and black Lanvin pumps.

$925.00

Here's an example of how she could seriously moonlight as a model. Here she is in a Peter Som dress at an event for the Maria Sharapova Foundation. Usually when celebrities wear clothes straight off the runway, it's a complete disaster. However, Maria proves she can wer just about anything.

Here she is in Qatar in sweats, a t-shirt, and...FENDI?!?! Must be nice to still look chic even you're completely dressed down.

$360.00

It may seem like I'm gushing about Maria Sharapova's fashion savvy, but I'm not the only one. Tiffany & Co. (yes, as in Breakfast at Tiffany's), have created 18K gold wave earrings designed by Elsa Peretti for Maria to wear during the 2008 French Open. The company will design a line of earrings (called Tiffany for Maria Sharapova) for her to wear during each grand slam throughout the next two years. Fame, fortune, beauty, and now her very own line of Tiffany earrings. Some people seem to have all the luck.
