Emma Watson Goes From Harry Potter to Haute Couture

What's this I hear? Hermione Granger is becoming a supermodel? Well--not quite a supermodel just yet, but she's well on her way if you ask me. The Harry Potter starlet is famous for playing a bookworm in the J.K. Rowling blockbusters, but it seems like Ms. Watson is really coming into her own beautywise. In reality, her role as a studious genius isn't too far off base because she's been accepted to Yale University!

I remember a few years ago she was on Letterman or something and she said that she's made enough money so she'll never have to work again. This of course caused Potterphiles worldwide to assume that she's leaving the film industry altogether and she'll stop making the movies. Thankfully, she's still right in the thick of it and we can look forward to seeing her in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows I & II.

Below are photos from her ad campaign for Burberry. I've actually seen these photos before in Vogue, and I literally didn't notice that it was her. I guess that means she's a chameleon, which is a coveted quality for a model to have. By the way, is anyone else just drooling over those Burberry totes? They all look very lush and give off an Aspen vibe. If I had to choose, I'd go for the first one because it reeks of fabulosity.

Karl Lagerfeld is a Man Who Wears Many Many Hats.

Karl Lagerfeld is considered to be one of the leading forces in fashion design. He was born in Hamburg, Germany, but relocated to Paris at age 22 in order to pursue fashion design. He began as an apprentice for Pierre Balmain, and one of his contemporaries was one of my other fashion icons, Yves Saint Laurent. After spending three years at Balmain, Lagerfeld began working for Jean Patou, where he began designing haute couture pieces.

In 1964, he began freelance designing for Chloe in Paris, and then Curiel in Rome. It wasn't until 1972 when he started working with Fendi, designing clothing and accessories. He was also appointed Artistic Director/designer for the House of Chanel. As a result of his impressive fashion pedigree, Lagerfeld remains a prominent figure in today's fashion. His runway shows during Fashion Week attract so many celebrities, I couldn't name them all. In addition, Lagerfeld receives lots of celebrity support when it comes to the ad campaigns of his many brands.

Here is Lindsay Lohan with Karl Lagerfeld at a Chanel fashion show, and Nicole Kidman as the covergirl for Chanel No.5 perfume.

Here is Nicole Richie carrying a Chloe Heloise shoulder bag on one hand, and Joel Madden on the other one on the way to her court date.

$700.00

...And here she is again along with Hilary and Haylie Duff sporting the Fendi Spy Bag.

$2,250.00

Although Lagerfeld is famous for designing for three big labels (Chanel, Chloe, and Fendi), he does a very good job in maintaining the uniqueness of each of the three. I've noticed that Chloe caters to a somewhat younger fashionista (with deep pockets), Chanel is for the very elegant and sophisticated, while Fendi is aimed at the über trendy.

Mischa Barton + Marissa Cooper = HAUTE

It goes without saying that Mischa Barton is most famous for playing the rebellious Marissa Cooper on Fox's The O.C. However, her interesting fashion taste is perhaps what's kept her on magazine covers after the tragic cancellation of The O.C. Mischa Anne Marsden Barton was born in London, but she moved to New York City when she was four. She essentially had an actor's upbringing because she primarily attended performing arts schools such as the Professional Children's School in Manhattan and The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and began acting at nine years old.

Mischa has clearly been a talent from a very young age. I remember her performance in The Sixth Sense, which was my favorite Barton performance (aside from her role in The O.C., of course). Although technically she's an actress, I consider her to be one of my fashion icons...on and off-screen. As Marissa Cooper, she drifted toward more trendy and refined looks. In real life, her personal style is edgier and more rock & roll-inspired.

Here is an example of the Marissa Cooper signature elegance. She's wearing a white pearl Chanel necklace with a matching white clutch and top.

$574.00

Compare that to the real Mischa seen below. Notice the stark difference between light, airy, So-Cal Marissa, and the dark, grungy, mysterious Mischa. Here she dons a John Lennon tee, high-waisted darkwash jeans, bright red lips, and not one, but TWO chic designer bags. The black one is the Louis Vuitton Rivets bag, and the larger one is the Louis Vuitton monogram Sac Chien doggie bag.

$1,830.00

Here is Mischa again, but this time she's wearing lighter daytime looks, and rocking the awesome Chanel Charm flap bag in all three looks.

$265.00

Even when she has to get glammed up for a red carpet event, Mischa still sticks to her trendsetter mentality. Here she is at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival in a white haute couture Christian Dior gown, highlighted by crimson red lips and old hollywood style eye makeup.

Katherine Heigl...Only 29 and Already an Icon

Katherine Heigl is perhaps best known for playing the lovesick Izzy Stevens on ABC's Grey's Anatomy, but this blonde bombshell is becoming quite the fashion icon. Like many famous Hollywood starlets, Heigl got her start in modeling as a child. She modeled for catalogs, and she also appeared in TV commercials. She made her acting debut at the age of 14 in the film That Night. Her first starring role was in the 1994 movie My Father the Hero. She also starred in the Disney movie Wish Upon a Star (one of my favorite Heigl roles).

However, in 2005 she was cast as Dr. Isobel Stevens in Grey's Anatomy, the dream role she's probably most famous for. Although she plays a surgeon and therefore usually wears scrubs, she's probably the most stylish person on the show. With or without makeup, Heigl's inner and outer beauty really resonates through the complex character of Izzie Stevens. This is probably why she was awarded the Emmy in 2007 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

As I've mentioned, Katherine Heigl is quickly becoming a fashion and beauty icon...especially on the red carpet. Here she is at the 2007 Emmys where she won, which is no surprise because Heigl clearly dressed to win. This white denim Zac Posen was perfect and ended up being one of the highlights of the night.

You can't talk about Katherine Heigl and the red carpet without discussing the red Escada gown she wore to the 2008 Oscars. It was classically elegant and tailored to fit her beautifully. She looked flawless.

Even outside the red carpet, Heigl still manages to look glamorous. Here she is in an extremely casual tan button-down shirt, dark jeans, flats, and a dark brown quilted Chanel handbag.
$520.00

One of the biggest looks that defines Katherine Heigl is definitely the oversized trendy sunglasses. These Burberry shades make her look chic, as usual.
$237.00
Another facet of the Heigl signature look is undoubtedly the ruby red lips. Here she is again at the 2007 Emmys, wearing classic red lipstick reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour.
